Individual Creativity

Hello fellow readers!
This blog will be following the course Health Care Management II taught at the University of New Hampshire. I am a junior at UNH, and this is my second management course. In my first course, writing a blog was a requirement, just as it is this semester. So this is my second blog I have published and I believe I can do even better then the last.
For my first post, I thought it would be a good idea to talk about Individual Creativity. In this class, myself and others have to present on this subject so I have done quite the amount of research on it. The main thing I have learned is how important creativity is in the work field. It can be applied to when a company needs to change their brand, when a manager needs to motivate its employees, or when faced with a financial crisis. There are countless scenarios where creativity levels are challenged which is why it is important to understand how to get the creativity vibes flowing. One method my coworkers and I discovered was mind mapping. Mind mapping is a great tool to help oneself discover new ideas and connections within that they didn't know existed and simply get it all on paper. All you need to do is pick the main idea of whatever needs working on, write it down on paper and keep the thoughts flowing writing each of them down. When you can't think of anything more, you can look back at all you have mapped out and hopefully realize some things you never thought of before. This is a very simple exercise but can be very helpful with its little structure. In the future, if I find myself stuck with no new ideas, I will find comfort in knowing I can always use the mind mapping technique.

  1. I enjoyed the class. I am now more familiar with mind-mapping than I had been.
